weekly Warm up drills

Give & Go Straight line passing

This week, we’re making a change to our passing warm-up to help everyone get more touches on the ball and increase movement on the court. Here’s a quick overview of the new setup:  (we will not have the added obstacles but will run straight to the back of the opposite line)

  1. Form Two Lines: Players will be split into two lines facing each other.
  2. Set Up Discs or Pylons: Place two markers about three feet apart in the center between the lines. Each line should be about 4-5 feet from these markers.
  3. The Drill: Pass the ball through the discs to the player in the opposite line. After your pass, hustle to the back of the other line.
  4. Focus Areas: This drill emphasizes receiving and controlling the ball, making a strong, accurate pass, and quickly joining the opposite line. It’s also a great way to simulate a “Give and Go” movement.

Remember: Start the drill as soon as the first players arrive.

Circle passing drill

,Warm-Up Drill:

This warm-up drill is designed to get players moving, engaged, and focused on controlled, accurate passes. Here’s how it works:

  • Duration: 10 minutes
  • Setup: Form a circle. Players join in as soon as they arrive, filling spots on the outside of the circle.
  • Progression: Begin with Stage One and only advance if players are fully comfortable. The drill can be modified for various ages and skill levels.

Stage One: Focus on short, controlled passes around the circle. As players get the hang of it, modify the circle:

  • Tighter circle: for quicker, shorter passes.
  • Expanded circle: for longer passes that build strength and accuracy.

Whether they advance beyond the first stage or not, players will gain valuable experience in passing that will be instrumental on the field. Each week, we’ll look for steady improvement, moving forward only when the group is ready.

Remember: Start the drill as soon as the first players arrive.
