We offer Indoor Soccer at the Nottawasaga Pines Secondary School each Fall Winter season.  It's a game called Futsal

Futsal is a variant game of soccer that is played indoors on a smaller, hard court with a smaller weighted ball. The game emphasizes skill, quick thinking, and close ball control due to the confined space.

Playing futsal during the winter months offers several benefits for kids:

  1. Skill Development: The smaller playing area forces players to think and act quickly, enhancing their ball control, passing accuracy, and decision-making skills.
  2. Close Ball Control: The smaller and heavier ball used in futsal requires players to have precise ball control, which translates to better dribbling and passing skills.
  3. Quick Thinking: The fast-paced nature of futsal hones players' ability to read the game, anticipate opponents' moves, and make split-second decisions.
  4. Fitness and Conditioning: Futsal is physically demanding, improving players' agility, endurance, and overall fitness levels.
  5. Teamwork: With limited space, players must work closely together, promoting better understanding of team dynamics, communication, and cooperation.
  6. Reduced Injuries: The even playing surface and smaller teams reduce the risk of serious injuries, making it a safer option compared to outdoor soccer.
  7. Year-Round Practice: Playing futsal during the winter enables kids to keep practicing and playing soccer even when outdoor conditions are unfavorable.
  8. Fun and Engagement: The fast-paced nature of futsal keeps kids engaged and excited, making it an enjoyable way to stay active during the winter months.

Overall, futsal offers a fantastic opportunity for kids to continue developing their soccer skills, staying active, and having fun even when the weather is less than ideal.

Youth House League is a community-based recreational league for players turning 5 - 10  years  and open to all players of any skill level and ability. Our House League program, sponsored by Tim Hortons for kids under 8 and local community business  for kids 9 and up, is strategically designed to offer fun and excitement to children in a team format, while supporting a healthy and active lifestyle for all players.  The league focuses on soccer fitness, learning the basic soccer skills, fair and equal play time, good sportsmanship, enthusiasm and making fun memorable experiences for all.  Whether you are a player, coach or referee, house league is where it all begins.

Game day will consist of a skill practice followed by an official refereed game.

We are dedicated to the development of grassroots soccer and have developed and will be implementing a common curriculum program called the SKILL Of The WEEK.  It is an online training program that will assist in learning the proper techniques to develop the basic skills of soccer.  This program should be viewed each week by players, parents and coaches.

Before each game, each week, the league will incorporate one of the basic skills in a SKILL OF THE WEEK Practice.  The Skill of the Week will be posted online so that players, parents and coaches can view the skill and practice it prior to the skill of the week practice session.    Players will then come the day of play and the skill of the week will be demonstrated with the help from our trained and knowledgeable referees, coaches and supervisors.  The skill will be practiced until the referees and coaches feel that each child has a good grasp on the skill and can preform it with some degree of proficiency.  Once all participants can perform the skill to a satisfactory level, the games will begin.  This skill of the week practice takes place before each game and is mandatory for all participants.  This ensures that all players are receiving the basic techniques needed to improve and develop further.  A strong foundation will give each player the confidence and ability to advance.

You know the saying: “Practice makes perfect” - No saying could be truer when it comes to skill development in soccer. The more you practice the better you will get! We will be providing an ONLINE TRAINING PROGRAM so that you and your child can view and practice different skills and fun tricks each week. We encourage every player to use this tool and to practice each Skill Of The Week at least 20 minutes, 3 times a week. If you really want to improve, you will have to do your homework and practice your skills regularly!

We do, however believe that organized sports are a great place to learn some hard life lessons and not winning is one of them.  With that being said, we do do our best to make all teams as equal as possible and reserve the right to move children up until game 3 of the season if there is a huge discrepancy in team skill levels.

The Tot Shots Soccer Program, sponsored by Tim Hortons, is dedicated to fostering grassroots soccer and young children's development. The program focuses on introducing basic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship through structured activities, preparing participants for youth house league or competitive programs. The goal is to ignite their enthusiasm and inspire growth.

The Tot-Shots Program is designed specifically for boys and girls aged 3 to 4. It serves as an introductory program that incorporates fundamental skills, fitness, game dynamics, and most importantly, fun! The emphasis is on children wearing uniforms and engaging with their peers.

The program begins with a team warm-up led by enthusiastic and trained referees. Children learn about the role of the referee, how to respond to their whistle, and who to seek guidance from. Basic warm-up exercises and stretches are performed to prepare their muscles. Through enjoyable games and drills, they are taught essential motor skills such as dribbling, ball control, throw-ins, shooting, passing, and goalie skills.

During game time, small-sided matches are played on appropriately sized fields, ensuring that children have plenty of opportunities to interact with the ball while playing in a supervised game. Referees teach the rules of the game while emphasizing active participation and good sportsmanship.

It's important to recognize that every child progresses at their own pace. Each week, as a child becomes more involved, it is considered a significant achievement. For those needing extra encouragement, parents are encouraged to participate in the warm-up session. Over time, parental involvement is gradually reduced until the child gains enough confidence to participate independently or with other volunteers.

The Tot Shots Program is an excellent way to engage your young child in a team sport and physical activity. Friend requests are accepted, but certain conditions are in place to maintain skill equality and balanced teams.

The TOT SHOTS Program is a great way to involve your youngster in a team sport and physical activity.
